Our Structure
Our local research network is hosted by University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust. Additionally staff are employed by the Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust. The bid for the local network came from a consortium, led by a partnership between the University of Bristol and the University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust.
We provide coverage of a substantial geographical area and, potentially, nearly 10% of the childhood population in England. Paediatric tertiary care in the SW region is provided through the University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust.
The Local Research Network is led by our Director, Professor Adam Finn, supported by co-directors, a manager and two senior nurses who make up the Executive Group.
A Steering Committee supports and advises the Executive Group. The Steering Committee include representatives from the main research contexts covered by the network, each of the main participant organisations and each of the broad professional disciplines involved. In order to ensure the team is not unwieldy, most members represent more than one of these elements.
The Local Research Network also provides research nurses and administrators to facilitate the research within the MCRN portfolio of studies.
We aspire to involve parents and children in all areas of our work, wherever appropriate.
